Well, today my mom and I went to court to see and hear our first hearing involving "Joey".  I was stressing so much the last few days over this day.  "Hope for the best and expect the worst" is what I always say.  In a nutshell, we're going to have him a while longer but from the looks of it his father may eventually get custody.  This has me with mixed emotions.  On one hand, I am happy that for his sake his father is doing the right thing so far but on the other hand we're so attached to him in the short amount of time that we've had him that it's going to be a sad day for us when we have to give him back.  "Joey" will most likely be with us for Halloween and Christmas so now the hunt is on for a super cute Halloween costume and a Christmas outfit.  We decided that we will get Christmas pictures done of him as a way to remember him.

On a brighter note, I am so glad fall is almost here.  This is my favorite time of year!  I love the colors, the pumpkins, the leaves and especially the cool weather.  This is also the time of year I get the most done around the house.  I'm also getting excited for a Longaberger trip in a few weeks.  I think the couple days away will do me good!  What's going on in your world?

My favorite Kids Site!

I love Zulily!  I have found some really cute baby and kids clothes here.  It's a flash site with different sales added every day so of course, the cuter it is, the faster it sells out!  Each sale lasts 72 hours and you have to be quick to get the things you really like because there is limited quantities.  What's great though is that if you see something you just have to have and want to grab it before it sells out, you can buy it right away and get free shipping for the rest of the day!  This is great if you find more things to buy!  You need to sign up in order to get in on the great deals and you can also refer friends.  For each friend who orders from your referral link, you get a $15 credit!  Check it out and let me know what you think!

Time for a real change!

So I officially started Weight Watchers online today. This will be my 1,000th attempt at dieting but for the first time in my life, I actually have the right motivation for me....a baby! Now, granted this may not be our baby but I've realized that just keeping up with a healthy infant who can't crawl or walk yet zaps my energy! So, if he's zapping all my energy now, I can only imagine the stamina I'm going to need when he starts running around! His feet are already moving a mile a minute! So with that, we begin our journey of parenthood and becoming healthier individuals.

Meet "Joey"! He is 5 months old today and he's our foster child. Since he was placed with us in July, he has come a long way! Unfortunately, I cannot post a photo due to the confidentiality of him being in foster care but our hope is that through this process we will find a child or two that we can adopt and bring into our small but loving family. Now, "Joey" may not be the one we are able to end up adopting and there's no telling how long he'll be with us but while he's here, we intend to give him all the love and care he deserves! A nurse who was taking "Joey's" vitals commented on how attentive we were to him. She said it was unlike most foster parents who tend to be "cold". I take that as a huge compliment!

Why did we choose fostering to adopt? Have you looked into how much it costs to adopt a child these days? The explanation is clear...we can't afford it! That's not to say that I don't feel a child is worth it but we don't want to raise a child in debt. So, I learned that adopting through our state's child services there is no cost.  However, due to personal reasons we are selective people who want an infant. The odds of finding an adoptable infant through child services is rare and finding one who fits our criteria is even rarer. So, we have to foster until the baby is legally free to adopt and endure a system that isn't always fair or one that makes sense sometimes. Therefore, the length of the road to find "the one" is unknown and needless to say our home has been an emotional one!  We have been through so many ups and downs the past six years and if it weren't for my husband, I would have come unglued a long time ago!

If you're reading this, thank you and please come back again!
